Our church

Our church in Claygate is a branch of The Mother Church, First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts USA.  A group of Christian Scientists bought an existing church edifice here in Claygate in the 1950s where services were held until a new church building was built in 1960.  When the building was complete the original church was demolished and a Sunday School built in its place in 1964.

Our pastor is The Bible (King James version) and the Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. From our membership we elect two Readers, First and Second who conduct the Sunday services.  The morning service is repeated in the evening.  The Lesson Sermon available in the Christian Science Quarterly can be read during the week before the service.  Our First Reader takes our Wednesday Testimony meeting at 8pm, where there are topical readings, hymns and a period for the congregation to express gratitude and relate healings resulting from the study of Christian Science.

We are located at 45 Hare Lane, Claygate (opposite the telephone exchange) and the times of our services are:

Sunday 10.30am and 6.30pm

Sunday School is also held at 10.30am

Wednesday Testimony meeting 8pm

Claygate railway station and bus stops are within a short walk.
