Sunday School
The Christian Science Sunday School provides wholesome Bible education in a compassionate and safe learning environment. Children and teenagers learn how to deal with life’s challenges in a spiritual way by praying, glorifying God, studying the scriptures, and following in Jesus’ footsteps.
Classes
Classes meet with a regular teacher and are usually grouped according to age so that children or teenagers (from ages 2 to 20) can share and understand each others’ experiences. The younger children will learn about the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Sermon on the Mount. Those in the upper classes have lessons based on the Bible lesson subject for that week, taken from the Christian Science Quarterly. Teachers use questions and answers to encourage young minds to inquire, to reach for the spiritual significance behind the Bible stories, to follow in Jesus footsteps, and to find God in their everyday lives. Earnest students can prepare for these lessons by studying citations on the subject in advance, and this daily study of the Bible lesson will enhance their relationships etc.
Nursery
Children too young for the Sunday School classes can play in the Nursery while their parents or guardians are in church.
All young people up to the age of 20 are welcomed into the Sunday School. Many of those currently attending are from Claygate or Esher or nearby, but others are boarders at Claremont Fan Court School and come from around the world. We love to have visitors any time – questions welcomed, no strings attached – so do feel free to visit. If you’d like to talk to someone about the Sunday School you can call the Sunday School superintendent, John Woodhead, on 01372 468783.
Times
The Sunday School takes place at the same time as the Sunday morning Church Service, from 10:30am to 11:30am.
