The Bible

A source book of spirituality for generations, this is the book which Mary Baker Eddy studied in combination with extensive prayer, to find the true understanding of man’s relationship to God, and how healing can be achieved spiritually. Mrs Eddy stated that “As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.” (Science and Health page 497) and she ordained the Bible as one half of the Pastor in Christian Science, together with her work Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She stated furthermore that “the Bible, together with Science and Health and other works by Mrs. Eddy, shall be [a Christian Scientist's] only textbooks for self-instruction in Christian Science, and for teaching and practising metaphysical healing.” (Church Manual page 34). Christian Scientists use the King James version of the Bible.
